Armada Falco Blanco Mediano 1588

The Falco Blanco Mediano (1588) - a Spanish 300 tonne ship carrying 103 men and 16 guns.
The ship was wrecked on a reef near Freaghillaun, Ballynakill Bay - between Clifden and Renvyle.
The survivors were looked after by the Conneely clan even though Bingham had issued a proclamation that all Spaniards were to be surrendered to the English under pain of death. Through his network of spies news of the Spaniards  arrival would have soon reached him.  Captured sailors were brought to Galway and were publicly hung in Eyre Square by Governor Bingham of Connaught.
